The Story

From the underground to main stages, Urban Groove Productions has been bringing people together through music for decades. It is a story of passion, people, unforgettable nights and a lifelong commitment to electronic music culture.

Where It Began

Urban Groove Productions was formed in the mid-to-late 1990s in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami area. It grew from deep roots in underground dance music and quickly became known as one of South Florida’s main production companies for large-scale electronic events.

Urban Groove brought major headliners together with strong sound, lighting, promotion and event production. These were not small gatherings. The largest South Florida productions drew approximately 3,000 to 6,000 people and helped build a community around house music, techno, breaks and the wider electronic-music movement.

South Florida to New Jersey

After relocating to New Jersey in 1999, Urban Groove continued producing and promoting events throughout New Jersey and New York. The same underground credibility and large-event experience carried into a new chapter, connecting established artists, emerging talent, venues and generations of electronic-music fans.

Major productions were held at venues including Club Bene, Birch Hill, Stingrays, Limelight and Tunnel. Urban Groove also produced more intimate one-off events at QXT’s, The Meadows, Poor Abby’s, Loft 30, Club Eris and Clubhouse, while remaining active in the New York and New Jersey underground.

Groove Blender

The history of Urban Groove is inseparable from Groove Blender—a DJ, performer and music producer whose career began in 1984 during the freestyle era. His path moved through the harder side of house music, techno and breaks, with appearances at legendary clubs including Limelight, Palladium, Danceteria and Octagon.

He toured across the United States and Canada, took part in the Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival, and had a hand in organizing Ultra Music Festival in Central Park, New York, with more than 12,000 people. Since the early 1990s, he has also thrown and coordinated events ranging from intimate 100-person parties to productions with thousands of guests.

Keeping the Culture Moving

Urban Groove has always believed that a scene stays alive by respecting its history while making room for what comes next. That means placing up-and-coming artists and new talent alongside established names, giving fresh sounds a place to grow and keeping the connection with today’s generation strong.

The focus remains the same: strong production, underground credibility, memorable environments and real community. From South Florida’s large-scale parties to New York and New Jersey venues, Urban Groove has continued to create experiences that bring people together through music.
